What is the AI Spring Break Competition?
The AI Spring Break Competition is a challenge for middle and high school students to create AI-powered short films or art projects and compete for cash prizes of up to $1,500.
What are the prizes?
Grand Prize: $1,500
2nd Place: $500
3rd Place: $250
Middle School Bonus: The top 3 middle schoolers each win $250
Who can participate?
Any middle or high school student can enter. You can compete solo or in teams of up to 3.
Who is running this competition?
The challenge is organized by Harvard College graduates, supported by the Harvard Innovation Lab, and judged by an Emmy-awarded Hollywood screenwriter.
How will projects be judged?
Projects will be evaluated based on creativity, storytelling, AI integration, and execution by a panel of experts.
How do I register?
Fill out the registration form on AISpringBreak.com/register.
• Register by March 21st to waive the $20 registration fee!
• After March 21st, registration costs $20.
When is the submission deadline?
All projects must be submitted by April 21st.
Do I need experience to enter?
No! This competition is open to all skill levels. You can use free and easy-to-use AI tools to create your project. If you want more help learning to create AI projects, we will be offering optional spring break workshops.
What kind of projects can I submit?
There are two types of submissions:
• AI Art & Media → A 5-page PDF showcasing your project
• AI Film → A short film between 30 seconds and 5 minutes
Will there be help available?
Yes! We’re offering paid virtual workshops during spring break to teach AI-powered filmmaking and art creation. These are optional but can help you build skills for your project. Contact us for more information.
